A Posh Picnic

This year, they even teamed up with Teléios Event + Travel Planning to offer this "posh picnic" experience in the fields. I wish they had this when I lived there. I totally would have signed up!
Note: Due to limited availability and the late season, it's unlikely that there are any spots left. I apologize for the late announcement. I honestly didn't realize I hadn't shared a full write-up on the BlauSinn Lavender experience yet!
Bee Respectful
I wish this didn't need to be said, but please respect the fields by staying on the designated paths. These flowers are crucial to the livelihood of the farmers and damaging them affects their income. Let's work together to keep this beautiful experience open for everyone to enjoy!
Professional Photography
Photo of Reisen Around
I do believe there is a fee for professional photographers to use the fields. Please contact them directly via e-mail (info@blausinn.de) or phone (+49 (0)6359 9246226) to find out more.
Location
The fields are near Weingut Matthias Gaul off of 271 and L395. This is where I have it pinned on my Google Maps. If you have any trouble finding it, stop by the winery first and ask for directions.
Parking
There is no designated parking lot near the lavender fields. You can either walk from the winery (15 minutes) or park on the side of the road nearby. The winery does have a small amount of parking available on site.
Caution, Bees!
Bees and other insects are drawn to the fields and are protected in Germany. To try to avoid them, you can visit in the early morning (6 am -7 am) and late evening (before sunset). There still may be some present, but most are less active during these times. It all depends on the temperature, weather conditions, etc!
Lavender Shop
Don't forget to stop by Weingut Matthias Gaul so you can check out the Lavender Shop! You can buy bouquets and all sorts of products.
Can't make it this year? Stop by their website and shop online!
Above, you'll see a list of products offered in 2023 and their prices.
All of the products are beautifully crafted and displayed.
Weingut Matthias Gaul
Spanning over 30 hectares of vineyards, Weingut Matthias Gaul is renowned for its meticulous viticulture and innovative winemaking techniques. The winery specializes in a variety of grape cultivars, including Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, which thrive in the region's favorable climate and fertile soils. Visitors can enjoy guided tastings, where they can sample a diverse selection of crisp whites and robust reds, each crafted with a dedication to quality and tradition. The welcoming ambiance and scenic surroundings make Weingut Matthias Gaul a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts exploring the Weinstraße.
Wine Stop!
Don't forget to stop and have a glass of wine or two! They offer quite a selection of whites and reds. If you would like to see what they have to offer, be sure to head to their website and check out the "wines" section.
They are surprisingly well known for their Pinot Noir. They were even awarded the title "King of Pinot" by the Vinum Trade Magazine. If you would like to know more about the winery itself, please head here.
Their hours, address, and all other pertinent information can be found here.
Bring Food
We even brought lunch to enjoy on the premises. It was a lovely little lunch!
Appreciate the Views
The winery itself is beautifully done so take the time to casually stroll and take it all in!
The German Weinstraße
The German Weinstraße, or Wine Route, is a picturesque and historic wine trail located in the Palatinate region of Germany. Stretching over 85 kilometers, this scenic route winds through charming villages, lush vineyards, and rolling hills, offering a delightful journey for wine lovers and travelers alike. Established in 1935, the Weinstraße is Germany's oldest wine route, celebrated for its rich viticultural heritage and stunning landscapes.
Visitors can explore a variety of family-owned wineries, each offering unique and high-quality wines, from crisp Rieslings to full-bodied Pinot Noirs. The region's mild climate and fertile soils create ideal conditions for grape growing, making the Palatinate one of Germany's premier wine-producing areas.
Along the Weinstraße, travelers will find an array of inviting wine taverns, cozy guesthouses, and gourmet restaurants, all serving up regional delicacies and local wines. The route also features numerous wine festivals throughout the year, where visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture and traditions. With its blend of natural beauty, exceptional wines, and warm hospitality, the German Weinstraße is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the heart of German wine country.
